3VZ build progress......with pics

Thought I'd throw up some pics of my motor swap project. All that is left to do tonight is drop the distributor and transfer the flywheel. I hope to have it running Saturday!

The motor you see in the pics wrapped up was sent to me accidentally. It was supposed to be ready to go, but ended up having a motor mount busted off the side of the block, so its no good. The yard I got it from didn't have any other good low-mileage motors, so I got a brand new 0 mile rebuilt motor instead (for the same price !!!!!). I have been very surprised so far how easy it is to transfer everything over from the old to the new motor. I was very intimidated about it at first, but its really quite easy.

Anyway, here are some pics. I'll update with more soon.

Hey man, good pics. Is this just a straight motor replacement, 3.0 for 3.0? More pics as you progress would be cool.

Yup, 3.0 for 3.0. I could've done the 3.4, but oh well, the initial plan was to sell the vehicle to make money anyway. I bought the vehicle with a bad knock after some genius at Walmart changed the oil and never bothered to refill it. D'OH!

Its alive! She ran tonight for a few minutes. Had to shut it right down so I didn't piss off the neighbors running open exhaust at 11:00 pm. I'll get it timed tomorrow and patch the exhaust up and I'll be good to go! Whoo hooo! I'll have more pics up this weekend.

yeah I'll never take another vehicle to wal-mart for services as long as I live. I took my 94 Corolla there one time to rotate tires & they stripped 3 of my lugs. I had a buddy that took his brand new Camaro there & they didn't put an oil filter back on. I hope the new 3.0 works out for you. Mine's giving me some heartache right now.
