3rd Generation 4Runner 4x2 w/ SC??

I currently own a 2nd gen 4Runner and have invested more money that I care to ever total up making it my off-road beast. I'll have it paid off some time in the middle of next year and will be looking to get a different daily driver. And, of course, a newer 4Runner is at the top of my list for preferences.

Seeing as how I've suffered with the 3.slow 3VZ-E for so long now, I'm very interested in finding a 3rd generation 4Runner with a SuperChager. My question is -- are they available in the 4x2 models? I'd really like to get just a 2-wheel drive vehicle for my next 'Runner since I'll have my '95 for anything that will take me into 4x4 territory. My thought is I can buy a newer, lower milage 3rd gen 4Runner if I apply the money I would have spent if I bought a 4x4.

So, there you have it. What's available in the late model 3rd gen 4Runners? I'd really like to get the sport package with the SC engine. Any ideas where I can find some specs about what was available in the '01-'02 models?

Thanks,

Ed

Yeah, did some further research. Looks like all SCs are an aftermarket add-on, so any 3rd gen with a 3.4 V6 will accept the same SC.

Cool. Thanks.

There are 2x4 3rd Gens.

URD was invited out to AZ to film a TV spot with our fuel kit. The truck was a 2x4 99 4Runner with a 2nd Gen TRD Supercharger.

With the reduction of the weight of the 4 wheel drive system, the performance was really something. We were having a ball ripping around Scottsdale and Tempe after we tuned our kit on it right up until the hippy drunk driver slammed into us with a VW Bus FOUR TIMES....

Anyway, the reduced weight does make it a really nice performer.

LOL! I was going to say the same thing.

Gadget -- yeah, you gotta watch out for dem crazy mo-fo's out here. Although it's usually the blue-hairs that will get you, not the hippies.

Hadn't even thought about the performance gains of going with a 2-wheel drive. I guess that's even more incentive. I'm really looking forward to driving a vehicle with some ballz for a change. And no matter how much I mod my 3VZ-E, it's still a 3.sloooooow.
