Being the noob to the toyota world that I am, I have a question. I have searched through the forum and haven't come across the answer.
I have damage to my tailgate and found one from a 1996. I was wondering if it would fit my 2000 limited. And also anyone from the san antonio area that has connections to a paint shop would be great.

 

i couldnt tell you forsure but im gonna say yes i cant think of any changes done between those years to the tail gate u should jus compare the two and look for any differences.

yes, the tailgate shells are 100% the same.

You will run into differences in the wiring, exterior panel, interior panel color, and relay. The gate shell itself is the same part number from Toyota through 2002.
