3rd gen runner AC system...how long did yours last?
My system is humming along at 240,000 miles but i was wondering about other
Forum members vehicles.
What was the cost and what parts were replaced if your system went down?
Rebuilt parts or OEM parts?
Thanks....i know this will help someone when the air starts blowing warm.

223,500 miles- expansion valve.
Cost 80ish iirc to evac and refill the system 'cause I don't have recovery equipment/ didn't want to just let it out. I've got more of that sort of equipment these days.
Parts, just a 4Seasons expansion valve and because I had to open the system to replace that I also replaced the receiver dryer. Don't remember, seems less than $40 for both. One of the few times I did not go oem, just new aftermarket.
That was 60,000 miles ago...
Labor, free. Other than the evac/refill. It wasn't a hard job.

"At least the compressor's working. No pressure on the low side while it's running, I don't have a gauge to measure the high side but we do know there's pressure. After the truck is shut off and it sits awhile we do get a pressure reading for the low side."
Other than that? It made a dying cow sound and stopped blowing cool air.
The 96 doesn't have R12, it's R134A so no worries on that.
I did change my old Bronco II system from R12 to R134A, new o-rings, new receiver dryer, maybe new oil- it was back when the kits had just started coming out. Didn't blow quite as cold, but cold enough for me.
