I have a 99 4Runner, and if I lock it with the remote it sets the security system. If someone messes with my rig and the horn starts honking will it stop on its own after a few minutes or will it honk continuously until the battery goes dead?

I don't know if there would be any difference between the limited and the sr5 models but on mine it will honk for a few minutes then go off. I've had mine go off while driving one night! I think someone mustve had a device with the exact freqency and set it off, but it was kinda scary nonetheless.

I cant figure out how to turn off the honk once it goes off.

I seriously sat there for 5 minutes while it was busting my ear drums. I tried strating it up and it just got louder.

Finally stopped by itself but the neighbors give me bad looks now.

Lastly, the car will lock itself if Im not careful. I dont trust it one bit.

I had the security set once and accidently opened the door with the key. The honking stopped once I put the ket in the ignition & started the engine.

The first time I ever programmed mine and used it, I had left the windows down then unlocked it from the outside and opened it. I was in for a shock at how loud the alarm was.

On the third gen we used to have to get the alarm to go off without the clicker thing you had to get in and put the key in to the run position, then take the key out and put it back in and crank it up. Then it would stop

Mine goes off for a minute I think, never really timed it. Seems like when I press unlock on the remote, the alarm stops, I could be wrong.

It's nice and loud though, I was sitting around a fire on my friends island and I heard my alarm going crazy. It was parked across the creek at a boat ramp about 2 minutes away. I ran down to the end of the dock and saw my lights flashing, so I jumped in the boat and sure enough I got broken into.
