3rd gen front bumper question
I want to have black (the flat black that comes standard with no paint to match my stock flares) bumpers all around. I've seen threads where people have painted their bumpers black but mostly home-type jobs. I want my front bumper piece that is chrome to be flat black but have only seen the stock 3rd gen bumpers as chrome or painted (limited, sport edition, etc.)
I know that the 4 cylinder models for the 3rd gen came with black rear bumpers but haven't been able to see one in person. Is the front bumper also black? Could I just have a body shop paint the chrome bumper flat black?
BTW, I have a 99 with the "fat lip" so I don't know if this matters.
Thanks.

Great suggestion on the Line-X. Curious on why your paint job didn't turn out so well. I would hate to put the effort in prepping the bumper when it won't come out that well. Probably better to just buy another one.

Make sure you buy an expensive breathing mask as chrome is comprised of some nasty stuff. Once sanded, wipe it down with Acetone. Prime it with an etching primer. Have it painted or paint it yourself. You might want to have it coated by Line-X (nice and thin) or a similar coating. Line-X quoted me $60 for my front bumper brought in primed, off the rig. I am going to do that when I have time. My paint job didn't turn out too well for some reason on this piece.
