33" Wheels on 01' 4runner?

Anyone know how much lift i will need in order to fit 33's (P285/75/16) on a 2001 4runner. I won't be doing much offroading but love the mean stance of the 33's and the tread they have when aired down for the snow. I was looking at Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos which are supposed to be fantastic tires. Let me know thanks soooo much.

Hey, welcome to the board ... I'm certain though that this topic/question has been covered many times and you'll find more info by searching.

Doh! I just reread your actual post. It's talking about a 33 inch tire. You should edit your title. It threw me off. The title says 33 inch wheels. lol

I have 2" of lift with 285/75s on stock 16x7s and only rub when I am stuffing the tires. I don't rub at all with normal road driving.

Try 33s with the old 22RE!!! That 3.4 would do fine as long as the gearing is right. I dont know what the new gearing is on 4runners, ofcourse im sure the 01s dont have manual trans like my old 4runner so you may be right about acceleration there. The 3.4 is a nicely powerful engine and has nice tourqe.

check, i thought 01's sat a bit lower, so it would take about an inch more than usual.

thanks.

I mounted 285/70/17 on my 1996 4runner limited. It would be exactly the same specs as 285/75/16 on 16 inch rims. I mounted the 3" revtek lift with the diff drop. I do mostly city driving with mild to moderate offroading on the weekends. I have no problems. With the limited flares i had to trim about 1.5 inches on the bottom of the front flares for the turning radius, othe than that no issues, love it!

Correction: 285/70/17 is a little shorter than 285/75/16. The size of the rim doesn't have anything to do with the overall height.

How do you figure that 285/70/17 is shorter than 285/75/16 ??? Those are equivalent sizes for two different wheel sizes.

No they are almost identical. The bigger rim makes up for the lower profile tire. How can a bigger wheel not affect the overall tire/wheel height? LOL

Yeah, according to here there's just 0.1" difference in height between the two.

Go back to highschool math!!

If you have rim A that is an inch smaller in diameter then rim B, it does make a differance! It's the tiresize that would change the height. The 285/75r16 is only fractionally taller than the 285/70r17 anyways.
