305/70 vs. 315/75? HELP!

Which would be easier to deal with 305/70's or 315/75's on a 16x8- 4" bs wheel both tires are baja claws, my setup - 2002 toyota 4-runn with 3"sus and a 2"body lifts. Thanks

i cleared both with 4.75 in backspacing and 1.25in wheel spacers on 4in of susp. lift. and now 315's with same susp. lift and 2in body lift. here are some comparison pics. the bfg a/t's are 305's and the xtreeme a/t's are 315's and i'll point out the bodylift ones.

with the body lift

hope this helps

I've got 285's now and am wanting a little more width, not height. So, when it's time for tires again, I'll be going with 305's. 315's seem like a lot of trouble to fit. Then, you have to trim, buy different wheels and regear. For what...1" in lift? Doesn't seem worth it to me.

If you stuff wheels and turn full-lock while 4wheeling you will rub with 315’s. Again, you will rub w/o modification; if this weren’t the case everyone would be trying to shove 37’s under their 3rd gen. I still get a bit of rubbing. Most of those that run a 35 after running 33’s will attest that the added size is worth it in terms of lessened obstacle resistance, traction and added clearance. Re-gearing IS important as stated above.

For those with stock fenders rubbing will happen. Front wheel wells will contact while turning and stuffing. Esp. with a bouncing articulation in this movement. If you don't rub then you are a lucky man.

I missed that the OP was 2wd. I'd save for 4wd before anything: Different vehicle over conversion.

Don't waste your time trying to convert a 2wd into a 4x4...just trade your rig off for a four wheel drive and be done with it. Then, you can mod the thing up however you'd like.

Unless your 2wd has a locker, it would be useless off road. And even with a locker, it couldn't go where a 4wd could go. With that said, I think you'd find 315's a lot more trouble than they're worth. Stick with 285's or 305's.

I'm going with the 305's,they should fit with my setup and a little trimming with 4-4.5 backspacing right? The swapp im going to get is off a toyota 4wd 4-runn same year model that has been rolled, from a salvage yard every thing is ok on the underbody. But thats down the road.

Definitely go with 4" backspaced wheels if you can. With my OME 882's up front, I still had to do very minor trimming with 285's. They should fit fairly well. Good luck with the swap too and post up how things go.
