ahh, going parallel with the oil pressure sensor, thats way better than my idea :pat:

the turbo supra block comes with a port for the oil pressure separate from the oil feed already so i never even considered that simple prospect

its a 3.0 but the GOOD kind, straight 6 rocks

not trying to hijack your thread but here's a pic of my setup, its a bit dirty but mine is an offroad first kinda vehicle so i dont care. I'd like to have it on a dyno by the first of next year and we can compare spool RPMs etc between an inline 3.0 and a V6 3.4. The block has actually been bored 40 over so i think that bumps it up to a 3.1L or so .

i think yours will still spool faster due to the short length the exhuast pulses will have to travel. You still have the OEM log manifold or an individual runner mani?

Nice setup! At the rate I am going - it will probably be January untill I get back to the dyno and see what happens if I can run 12 psi. Looks like you are running a FMIC - how much boost and what size turbo?

i'm not running any intercooler initially since i'm just leaving the stock turbo/wastegate set at 8psi, the factory intercooler is so small i didn't see a heck of a lot of loss by just leaving it out completely and making my piping VERY simple. Once i get it running reliable at low boost I have all the hardware and electronics to bump it up to an aftermarket turbo with a nice front mount IC if i feel the need for more power, but i am waiting till i see how far i can take this setup first. It is still an offroad truck with big tires and a high COG, its kinda silly to take it too far. I just love supras and needed a new engine and have a bad habit for expensive hobbies. If you run too much power ( as noted in this thread ) theres ALOT of other things you have to start beefing up as well.

but then again who knows, perhaps the 3vze wont like making the above power and do the ever popular "3vze self created block window" where the 3vze puts a rod through the side of the block so it can see what the rest of the world looks like...lol

Sounds like a good idea I'm not very familiar with the 3vz but imagine it could hold the power from 4-5 lbs of boost if fueled and timed well?? Good luck and let me know how it turns out!

Hey all;

I wanted to post up and say that I dropped by Gregg's this morning to pick up a manual I'd lent him... I got to see his truck for the first time.

Seeing this thing in person is awesome. The work that SpeedFactory did to get this all to fit is just _beautiful_. Like Gregg has mentioned, he's had the feed tubes powder coated and it really helps to give a sense of "damn that's a clean install!". It's the different end of the scale from Jeremy's swap. You look there and you _know_ something's up; you look at Gregg's and you have to think for a bit about what you're seeing.

For those that are itching for kits... I gotta say that this is NOT like installing a S/C. There's a TON of work under Gregg's hood, and a lot of it is SpeedFactory custom. The amount of measuring, cutting, fitting, re-fitting, etc. that was done is over-the-top. I can't see it becoming practical to create a user-installable kit given the amount of work that would have to go into dealing with things like "oh, you have an oil cooler?", "Oh, your AC condenser is on that side?"... Those just aren't things that you have to worry about with an S/C.

He's got some fueling issues right now, (seemingly courtesy of an ESC1) but working on 'em and will end up back on the dyno at some point. This is a busy time of year for his business, so his play time is tight.

Kudos to Gregg! Kudos to SpeedFactory!

This was as close as we gotten to an actual production turbo kit. Unfortunately it seems right now that there are too many kinks for it to be marketed as such. Maybe just sell the manifolds...?

Johnny... (and others)

Gregg's truck is running better than when he last posted, but it's still not all-the-way there (fwiw, he's another ESC1 customer).

Kit wise, like I said above, this is a VERY complex install, and I doubt that Speed Factory (the local shop) will be trying to package this up.

Hey Blake!

Yeah, the price is right, but I don't know enough about the components to pass judgment on them. Though, it does look like the kit is generic and not really custom'd for our rigs. Check out this search link for the seller's store:

http://search.stores.ebay.com/TaikaP...511015QQsofpZ0

Same pic, same price, different target vehicles.

fwiw, my participation in this thread was to help out Gregg in fielding questions and such. In the heat of the install, he'd sometimes post on CT and not here or vice-versa. he and I talk once a week or so hence my knowing about his status.

My only comment on _any_ turbo system is to remember that, _in general_, a turbo does best on the road, a SC does best in the dirt.
