3.4 Troubleshooting help please

2000 3.4 recently swapped into my 91 4Runner

I get a burning oil smell only a wide open throttle at high RPMs.
There are no leaks on the motor and I only smell it right after full throttle at a high RPM.

I havent had much time to check things out. I have looked everything over several times and dont see any leaks or oil sitting anywhere.

The only thing I can think of is a malfuctioning PCV system. Im going to pick up a new valve on the way home.

Also Occasionaly at full throttle when it gets to about 3500-4000 RPMs it feels like the power suddenly increases drasticly.

The CEL is on and my OBD is not currently hooked up. That will be done tommorow and hopefuly that will tell why im getting that problem.

But til then what could be causing the oil smell??

Thanks in advance

I know that's something the 3.slo NEVER does, welcome to the world of 24 valves I'm still amazed everytime I hit that powerband of the 3.4.

On the smell are you sure you don't have something too close to the exhaust system giving you that burning smell?

But it doesnt seem to do it everytime...

I will double check to make sure nothing is close to the exhaust but the only time i can smell it is when youre at full throttle, then a few seconds later its gone. It definatly an oil smell though.

Do you see any oil inside the throttle body?
