3.4 swap

I will be doing a 3.4 swap in my 94 runner. I read you can use the 3.0 flywheel on the 3.4. Is this correct? If so couldn't you use the 3.0 clutch. If you have to use the 3.4 flywheel I am assuming you can just use the 3.4 clutch unless the disk splines are different from one to the other.

not sure about your specific question, but have you searched your thread title "3.4 swap?" i do know taht there are a number of very long threads about the 3.0 to 3.4 engine swap.

I have searched and read all posts pertaining to this swap. That is where I read you could use a 3.0 flywheel on a 3.4. I was wondering if this was true.

I am currently doing this conversion myself. From what I understand you use the 3.4 flywheel and clutch disc/plate and the 3.0 TO bearing. Sucks because the 3.4 clutch is much more expensive then the 3.0.

I believe you'll have to use the 3.4 flywheel, clutch disc and plate from the 3.4. I don't remember specifically comparing them but I think the bolt pattern and spacing is slightly different; not to mention the disc is larger. One thing for sure, you must use the 3.0 release bearing; I just put another 3.4 in my 88 4runner (I melted pistons in my original 3.4 ) and the 3.4 clutch kit includes a release bearing that won't work with the 3.0 transmission.
