Yeah most people start with plugs for a misfire code. The dual ground make them last longer, since the 5VZFE uses a waste-spark ignition system. More on that: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/e...h-bank-177019/

Just ordered the o2 sensor box.. hope it works..

in the past I have been able to reflash the ECU to turn the light off, is this possible?

I don't know about reflash--probably not the precise word you want--but you can reset by taking off the positive cable for 20-30 minutes. The P0420 takes a while to come back as a few trips are needed to detect and certain sequential driving sequences are required. Figure a tank of gas to complete the test. Until then a scan will show 'Test not complete'. I don't know what happens when you first install a simulator, probably the same thing.

You probably need two tanks of gas to declare victory on a P0420, I think it's the slowest code to trigger after reset.

I am actually thinking of buying a computer to inface with the ECU via OBD2 port. It was very handy to have, borrowed one from a friend. Told me the same thing the dealer told me, any recomendations?

I do have plans to SC this motor sometime and add some HP, I read that this somtimes will require mapping of the fuel curves. So a computer that can do this is the one I want. If this is like the ones I have used on my BIG Diesel trucks and my Mitsibishi Evolution, you can also turn off the O2 sensor code warnings... that is what I was calling a Reflash...maybe your right, not the best word for it... Anyone got a better word?
