Does the 3.4 have a cold start injector? My 2002 4runner doesn't like to start when it's cold. It runs fine after it's started and starts fine when it's warm. But when it's cold it spits and sputters until it slowly builds to idle speed and I have to keep the starter engaged until it's up to speed.

 

No, there is no cold start injector on the 3.4L. One possiblity is you could have a sticky IAC valve.

 

I was wondering if it could be something like that. My throttle body is pretty dirty, I quess it's time to clean it and the IAC.

 

There is a write-up somewhere here on yotatech about cleaning the IAC valve. If you do it, get new gaskets, don't reuse the old ones.
