3.4 clutch disc install direction
Hi All,
Getting ready to drop my 3.4 JDM replacement engine in my Tacoma and need to know how the clutch disc goes in as I have seen lots of conflicting info on search's. Don't want to get this wrong!
I'm leaning towards putting the portruding spring side into the flywheel as I have seen this as direction on 3.4 engines only. I have seen this on a couple of vendor websites. It's an Asian kit. This means the T/M marking would be pointed into the flywheel...makes me a bit uncomfortable....Is it right? Thanks!

A bit of googling does seem to indicate the 5VZ is 'backward' compared to most others:

I used a Marlin Crawler kit on mine and don't recall pondering it much. There was probably a stamp or sticker on it and I just put it in as directed and didn't think about it.

Thanks Jomoka - I saw the second link and the one guy said he was having slipping in first gear and was thinking about flipping it the other way, thats what got me wondering.
Also saw that diagram from Marin.....supposedly from the FSM. I think this is the way I'm going. I do have it all bolted up that way currently.
Anyone else want to chime in? Not dropping the motor in for another week...

Update for anyone that may have the same issue in the future...I installed the clutch disc protruding spring side into the flywheel as according to the picture (3.4) posted above by Jomoka. This is the correct way - working great!
