3.0's and Oil pumps...

We had a Pontiac wagon when I was a kid that ate 4 oil pumps...one about every 40K. The lifters would start rattling and we'd know what we were going to be doing the next weekend. But it ran well...

I've been wondering if I (or we) expect too much from these Toy oil pumps to last as long as the engine lasts. A good supply of oil from a fresh pump might just make these 3.0's rods last a little longer. Anyone done a pressure test on their oil pump?

At idle they can be as low as 4 psi and still be in spec believe it or not.
