i have a '97 2WD that i want to have more offroad capability than the present. How would I go about putting in a locker? any estimate on cost?

 

Find a used e-locker, on e-bay, local salvage yards, or maybe here.

There are a few threads on e-locker installations in this section, do some looking through the posts, and start gathering up components.

Or buy a complete rear axle out of a 4Runner at the salvage yard. Easier, but more expensive.
