Well I just purchased a 2nd gen., used s/c for my '98 and whatta ya know, I get online and find someone selling a "4th gen. s/c" for the same price range. Seller claims 2nd gen is a P.O.S in comparison! Any truth to that? both are for the 3.4 v6 96-2002.

 

what engine does the 4th gen have? what year 4th? what type, all that good stuff

 

I thought they only had the 1st gen(white one), and 2nd gen(black). online seller claims he has 4th gen for the 3.4, 96-2002(4rnr).

 

Ive never heard of that one, but then again, mabye someone else knows.

(Also, it may help if you mention that your talking about gens of S/C not runners, unless you are)

bought the s/c pkg from "ak95taco" from the marketplace sec. of this site. 1400.00. was bidding on two others via ebay but they got up to same price.

 

$1400 w/ the fuel upgrades. If so, good deal.

 

I paid $1500 last year for a gently used s/c. I know it is not a 1st gen. It is black.
I have the box with serial number, but no idea how to check....

 

1st gen gray, 2nd gen black. I have never heard of anything else.

 

There isn't anything else. Just 1st and 2nd. The second gen had two versions but the only change was one had the hole drilled and tapped for the "fixed" idler pulley and plate and the other one didn't other than that they were identical.

jrock, whoever told you there was a 3rd and 4th generation charger for the 3.4 from TRD was blowing smoke up your butt.

ah of course, the ebay listing has been removed that sparked this thread! I tried to send a message to the seller about the claim of it being a 4th gen. etc, message just boomeranged. UK seller. anyways, thanks for all the input!

 

......you'd be lucky to even get that S/C after paying for it (I've seen tons of ebay fraud from there lately).
