part of the appeal of doing something like this is the sleeper factor. You come up next to a cobra, flutter the gas a little to let him know whats up, give him a 3 car length head start, then leave him in your tailpipes. Sorta like what i'm doing with my truck but twice the power

the motor i have in my truck is a 7MGTE out of the Mk3 supras (86-92). The 2JZGTE is from a Mk4 surpra (93-97ish).

I hope to have 350hp to the wheels when its said and done. The stock motor is only rated at around 250 but very very easy to get more power out of. The 2JZ is rated at 320 stock for comparison. I'm building my truck to be big and able to drive over stuff, not as much to go fast. It would be quite dangerous to take my truck over 85 MPH or so. The supra swap was just a fun thing i sorta started spur of the moment (and has taken over half a year cause i never get around to working on it but hopefully soon it will be done) . BTW, my name on supracharged is JMG4runner (my AIM screen name) so you know you are talking to the same guy on each site.

Dude that is awesome. Wish I had the funds for that kinda stuff. Don't you have an s-runner? That mk4 engine will be sweet in it!

Not sure if you're trying to make a general comment, but...

A stock cobra will smoke a stock supra b/c of turbo lag, discussed previously so I'll stop there for that one...

A 2JZ Taco would be INSANE against a GT or most cars in general for that matter...

Anyway, I can't wait for more info as this applies to all 3rd Gen. 4Runners as well!

maybe in stock form it would be close, but this guy is talking about major modifications and near 10sec 1/4 mile runs in a truck thats not exactly a lightweight like a mustang/vette etc. The turbo lag might matter for the first second of the race but after that you're putting all 500+ ponies to the ground nearly continuously, and thats with just basic modifications. If he really wanted to get down with a big single instead of twin turbos, man i dont even want to think about it. I'm going to work on my truck, all this talk has gotten me anxious to finish mine

Woo hoo!!! You're gonna have FUN...

OH... and if he's got an S-Runner, his power-to-weight ratio is BETTER than a stock Supra... My $$$ is on the Runner in a Cobra vs. rig race...

But I don't know that much about Supra's...

When I am done I will be able to SMOKE a Z06, let alone a Cobra! I want 600 to 700 WHP, and it can be done!!

Right now with my nitrous at a 80 I can SPANK GT mustang all day! I will take my camera out tonight when I race to show you!

I know you are not FLAMING, just saying what on your mind! It's COOL!

the first thing that comes to mind is how are you gonna get traction?

You'd have to have a crap load of weight in the back, and some sticky tires in order to just not spin.

I think some wide, sticky tires and a locker and he'll be set.
