22re wierd problem

22re wierd problem

okay i just dropped in my 22re in my 89 pickup
but i have this wierd problem. when parked and i slightly rev it to like 2000-2500 RPM? (no tach) it starts to like surge/ cut out. kinda like bouncing off the rev limiter but slowly. it idles fine, drive fun, thats the only problem. anyone else had this problem?

sounds liek a throttle position sensor or a dirty afm

Mine did that when it had a minor exhauset leak at the cat-converter.

i adjusted the tps.....how do u clean the afm??

SoCal4Running how did u fix the leak? new cat? if so how much :pat:

No didn't need a new cat, it was just the flange gasket. For some reason they keep buring thru. It would sometimes set off the CE light giving an O2 sensor code. Next time it happens I am getting a Toyota brand gasket.
