22RE startup

I have an 87 4-runner 22RE with an auto tranny. When I first start it up it will crank over a couple of times but will not start. As soon as I try to start it the second time it fires right up and will do the same if the engine is warm. Anyone have ideas on why it won't start right up on the first try? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

How do you test for a bad cold start injector for a 22re?

The start injector sounds like a good bet. I would run a cuple tanks of the best cleaner you can find and see if it changes any.
