I noticed my 87 runner Automatic, shifts way too late. Like 3000-3500 when it should shift at 2500. I left it alone. Until my friend drove it and he noticed the same thing? Could it be the timing? Or...........anybody?

 

So is it slipping into the next gear, causing the RPM's to rise, or is it holding the gear (without slipping) - just not shifting on time?

Hope that makes sense.

 

Thats It. Holding a gear too long and then shifting sorta hard into gear.
