So I see a lot of the older 1st gen tacos getting swapped to the 2004 front end. But can you do the opposite? I kinda like the older look over the newer front end. Ya I know I’m crazy

 

I don’t see why not. I think you would run into issues trying to retrofit a ‘98+ back to a gen 2, due to the updated safety of the fat-lip front bumper.

Going backward, you’ll go back to a sealed beam headlight versus a halogen in an assembly. Plus the older front end will be harder to source parts, you’ll be looking for 30 year old hardware versus 20 year old stuff.
