2003 4Runner on-board air?

Has anyone installed an air compressor on a 4Runner? Which compressor did you use? What tank & accessories? Did you do it yourself or have a shop install it for you?

I'm thinking about installing a system on my truck for the beach and would appreciate any suggestions.

Compressors have been discussed. I haven't seen discussions about onboard air for 2003 and couldn't find them with search. If it has been discussed "mucho", then I would appreciate a pointer.

I have an ARB compressor installed. I have only used it to fill tires once, As I have been reading on this forum this compressor is not going to last long using it for tires. If I were to get another compressor I would look for a compressor that would run as close to 100% duty cycle as possible. I beleive the ARB is only a 15% duty cycle compressor. As far as the installation. I was able to install the compressor directly behind the airbox. I ran the output hose to the rear along the frame rail, it exits with a quick disconnect and cap right next to the Trailer connector.

In the near future I plan to install two 1 gal air tanks under the truck somewhere. Hope this helps..

Gov't Model - Do a search for posts by GoodTimes. Lance has an ExtremeAir compressor in his 4th Gen.

I ran an ARB for several years and as long as you are just airing up your tires it will last pretty well. If you have it under the hood you may want to open the hood to keep it from over heating if you have the engine running while airing up. A 2 gallon tank with an ARB may very well make airing up SLOWER. It will air up the first tire really quick (1 min) but the other three will drag as the compressor struggle to air up a tire and the tank. If you have a fast compressor, a larger tank matches better. Just my two cents.
