2001 Pre-runner Tire question

I have searched for my identical application and couldnt find anything specific. I have a 2001 pre-runner and I want to put a bit beefier tire on it this time. I have the 265/70/16 michelin LT/MS factory set up and have 60,000 on them and i want to get something with a more aggressive tread. I have no mods or lifts. I was specifically looking at the 275/70/16 size. Does anyone run this on a 4x4 or prerunner. I would like to know if you have any issues as far as rubbing. I know it is only .5in taller and .5 inch wider. I also know the REVOS are highly reccomended. I due about 90 percent road travelling and 10 percent offroad. Thanks guys i appreciate anything you can tell me or show me.

I am switching from my Michelin LTXs to the Revos and I am a 95% onroad driver if that helps.

I have a 99 Pre-runner and had 265/70/16 Revo's put on about 5 months ago. I was told that was the largest tire I could run w/out any rubbing.
Not sure if it's any different for the later modells.

Try 265/75/16..that should be the largest tire that you can fit stock.

All of the threads I have read about putting 265/75/16's on they all have rubbed. Where are you getting your info from? I am looking for someone with the tacoma prerunner or 4x4 that has put the 275/70/16's on their truck stock.Anybody with good info out there?

The 265/75/16's *should* fit. If not, it isn't much trouble to MAKE them fit. Lets not try and re-invent the wheel........

Everything i have read on this board about real world experience is that the 265/75/16 will rub and you have to mess with the pinch weld and stuff like that, I dont want to mess with the truck at all i would simply like to see if the 275/70/16 would fit on my truck without rubbing. Not trying to be difficult i have seen others ask this about the 4-runner from other body styles I am just asking for my specific truck. I guess I will ask TTORA

I understand. One great option available is to goto a Discount/America's Tire and have them test fit some tires for free. Chances are, they've done it before, and know what fits.

If the Pre-Runner is the same height as the 4x4, I don't see why they wouldn't fit..especially if you're getting an A/T.

Taco experience

I use 275/75R16's on my stock 01 taco dcab, with no rubbing. Pirelli Scorpion A/T. I am switching to Mich LTX M/S when they wear out.
If I were you, I'd get the tire dimensions from the mfg, for the new and old tires. Then go look at your existing truck with the wheels turned in the worst scenario to compare how much clearance you have left. Park it on a curb to look again with the suspecsion compressed.
