2001 4Runner Instrument Cluster Light Replacement
A tale of whoa
Cost, $3.30 for two Nappa Auto Parts light bulbs size 74 to fix a burned out cluster light. It took 1 hour to complete.
Didn't mind removing five self tapping screw holding the lower dash cover. Nor was it a burden to remove the four 10mm bolts.
My gripe was with the Toyota Engineer team who decided to put the two illumination lamps under the computer circuit board in the cluster. Sure removing the computer circuit board dust cover wasn't difficult. The problem is having two little hot lights under a circuit board. Seems counter intuitive.
Nappa couldn't find which bulbs to sell me. So..Nappa sold me three types of bulbs; 158, 194 and 74. Reader if your speedo or tach light are out trust me and get two 74 bulbs and save yourself grief.
