Signal Light Flasher Mod

Hello all,

Thanks to butnut for the great idea and write-up. I finally had the chance to do my signal light flasher mod tonight. It's now changed from green to blue.

Looks sweet, especially at night.

I also took the opportunity to do some dusting behind the instrument cluster, etc. Nice and clean now too.

Yeah, I don't blame anyone for wanting to do it. Butnut should talk to Toyota and make them factory standards.

No wait, then the likes of us would have nothing better to do!

I think there would be more gratification if it wasn't a standard.............

Yeah, that does look really cool! I like the looks of that. I was thinking, what if I were to do that, I would want to do it in red, to match my body color. I really wish that they would come out w/ reverse indiglo guages and then I could do both mods. Oh well...we'll have to see. Nice lookin' though!

Cool

Hey Al. I'm just waiting for the reverse Indiglo faces to be made...the blue numbers should match perfectly. My ISSPRO vac gauge should be in next week. (Thanks Phil!) It has the blue numbers already. I'm sure after I put it in, I'll start getting impatient for those reverse Indies!
If you can find a way to replace the 3 or 4 mini bulbs in the dash pod with a blue LED, it would work. Till then, I'll just wait.

What if we just used a heavy felt marker or deep blue paint on them? Do you think that would work?

NO. I have tried everything. Marker, bulb paint, stained glass paint, bulb condems (modified to fit) bulb tape...you name it (can ya tell how many times I pulled the dash to try each one? ) You luck bastid! There are reverse Indies for your '97!!! On Ebay for under 40 bucks! This would sweeten up that dash. I'm jealous....

Actually I can't stand the indiglo gauges myself, they're too overbearing for me. Plus, that particular one only glows MPH at night and all of Canada is KMH.

These are the ones I really, really want:

Blue on silver/white, and just the speedo stuff, not the entire face, glows at night.

2 Problems w/me ordering them:

-Procarparts doesn't take international credit cards, I'd have to get a money order or something to them

-I've seen some bad feedback on purchasing from ProCarParts so I'm kind of hesitant to order from them.

If I could find this gauge local, I would buy it in less than a second.

Speaking of turn signals, do they make some sort of replacement blinker relay to make the blinking rate of your turn signals faster, or a different pattern? Like how the police cruisers have? That would be sweet!

Those are nice! Even better. That's what I'm hoping from Speedhut to make. Those you posted are EZ to install. The big center hole lets you install without pulling the needles off...I'd take a chance and order 'em...but I'm crazy. Good luck.

All the info is on Phil's thread. I knew a vac gauge had a few uses, but there are a lot of engine problems the gauge can pinpoint. I downloaded a page with all the tune up and diagnostic stuff on it. Here's Phil's post. OK, I answered your question...how about them emblem pics? Hey Adam, those high speed flasher relays so beloved by the import crowd look different than the police strobes I have seen. Some tow trucks have 'em too...some kind of super bright bulbs...

Hey butnut,

I'm thinking there's about 6 bulbs in the instrument gauge that are green. Have you figured out a way for us to make them blue yet?

For the heater/climate control area, there's only one bulb. Not sure yet if it's green or if it's the plastic piece that spreads the light across that is green, but I don't think that one will be tough to make blue. Working on a way right now..
