I'm trying to replace the trans. in my 2000 Tacoma (V6 4wd Federal emissions SR5 extended cab). I've gotten 2 wrecking yard trannys and both have had different valve bodies than the trans that came out of the truck. I've done some forum searching at it seems that there was a valve body change mid 1999 from the 2 tube valve body to a larger and supposedly 'upgraded' valve body. I can't seem to find a 2000 or late production 1999 trans. in town so I'm wondering if the 1998 / early 1999 trans. will work or if I need to keep searching for a late 1999 / 2000 trans.
