2000 4Runner Tundra brake upgrade
Okay, first off I do know how to use the search feature! I still can't find a simple answer. I have a lifted, supercharged 2000 4Runner that is in need of front brakes. I would like to do the Tundra conversion. I am currently running 17in Tundra wheels and 295 Nittos. I am looking for brands, part numbers, web sites, best prices, year Tundra stuff, etc. I am assuming with the 17in wheels i can use the larger calipers but maybe I am wrong. I would like this to be as bolt on as possible. Since I am already breaking the seal with new calipers, what is a good source for high quality front brake lines? i know you guys have all the answers. Please help me out. What brake brand, caliper brand, rotors, etc. I know a bunch of you have been through this so please help another 4Runner addict out. I value all of your advice!!
I thank you all in advance,
Rob Primavera

Searcchhhhh. Search big tundra brakes
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/b...4runner-74601/
Then buy calipers, either junkyard, tundra solutions, or at a parts store reman or new. Then you need tundra rotors, they are all the same. I got all my stuff for an 02 tundra.
your stock brake lines with thread right in if you don't kink or strip them.

just did this to my 2k runner.
I got the loaded calipers at NAPA for $115 a piece. they took back my old/core no problems. I went with brembo slotted rotors, paid $100 a piece for them.
one of the easiest mods Ive ever done, about 1 hour from wheels up to brake test.
the braking is solid, no shimmy and no fade. should have done this years ago.
the only thing I can think of as being a drawback.......it almost feels like I lost some acceleration, the only thing I can think of is the increased mass of the rotor may be slowing me down just a touch, as they are not dragging.

I've been battling with the sloppy feeling pedal after the Tundra brake upgrade and I haven't found any official solution posted on line, so here is my fix to all of you dealing with a sloppy pedal after installing the larger Tundra calipers (231mm?)
I have a 2000 4runner 5spd manual, and I did the Tundra brake upgrade. The result was disappointing in the sense that my pedal travel increased, almost as if I had air in the lines, but I know I didn't. Because I used the larger 231 calipers, the stock 1" master cylinder was not sufficient. I found out that the last generation of T100 trucks, I believe 97,98 used a 1 1/16" bore master cylinder. I had to get a vacuum booster from a T100 to hook it up (because the master cylinder has 4 hose bolt pattern, instead of 2), but the result is a much firmer pedal - perfect!

A simple search on amazon turned up the right part:
And I think this is the correct booster:
don't forget to buy a new gasket that would go between the booster and master cyl.

Ok awesome!
Brakes are doing great! You don't want to use the tundra master cylinder, it's only 13/16" bore size. You want a bore size of 1 1/16". The only master cylinder I found that was the right size was the T100 master cylinder.
A simple search on amazon turned up the right part:
Amazon.com: Centric 130.44722 Brake Master Cylinder: Automotive
And I think this is the correct booster:
Amazon.com: Centric Parts 160.88801 Power Brake Unit: Automotive
don't forget to buy a new gasket that would go between the booster and master cyl.

No sorry - you'll have to contact the toyota dealer to get the gasket - i'm not sure where to find it online , but I'm sure if you look you will find it. Let me know how it goes! Where are you located?

I'm looking into doing this upgrade because I've noticed my power brake booster starting to fail. I have ABS on my 2000 4Runner but all I see is non-ABS for the 97/98 T100 power brake booster. Same deal on most of the master cylinders. Anybody know if I can put a non-ABS booster and master on my truck or non-ABS booster with an ABS master cylinder without any problems?
