2000 4Runner limited with clunking sound: Transmission or Driveshafts?

ive got a 2000 4runner limited. Ive noticed that theres a clucking noise accociated with the trans when i put it in gear. when its in park an netural it does not make noise...

Im thinking converter possibily???

any ideas?

Yep, every forum is cursed by a few of those.

You might just need to have the u-joints lubed, front and rear.

could it be something in the trans? just curious ive have no shifting issues or slipping going on

was just thinking an it makes the noise when its in gear with me holding the breaks an not moving. an makes noise when im moving.... so if its making noise while im on the breaks an not moving how could it be the u joints?

Now that you have told us that the noise occurs when its not moving, then it couldn't be the u-joints. Anything else you haven't told us about?

is it the transmission or is it the transfer case lever that vibrates and makes a sound. if it is the transfer case lever, then there's nothing to worry about it.

Lube drive line.
Possibly broken flex plate.
