2000 4Runner blown, need suggestions
I started experiencing white smoke coming out the exhaust a couple days ago and dropped it off at the dealer to have a look. It looks like there’s an oil leak and it was blowing oil back into the intake which has gummed up the throttle body and basically destroyed the engine. They say I need a new short block and mostly a new engine which sucks since there’s only 88k miles on it. The work with parts is going to run $6,500 and I was wondering if there might be a better solution then just a replace. I figure if it’s coming out I should make any changes I can. I asked about an engine swap but they didn’t know of any good swaps. I also asked about an over bore but they said it wouldn’t net much power. The 4Runner is my daily driver as well as my off road machine so more power would be helpful. I don’t mind spending a little more if an upgrade makes sense. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

that sucks man.... i'd get a 2nd opinion and see where that gets you. there's always 3.4l engines on ebay all the time, you could look there too.
You,d have to get a body lift and a much of other mods, but you could always be the first to swap in the 4.7l I-force V8!!!
