2000 4runner alarm remotes

I have searched and searched for answers on the internet, and on this forum, no definite fix. I have a 2000 4runner with factory keyless entry and the rs3200 alarm. I have two keyless entry remotes, one master key and one valet key. First question, how many keys/remotes came with your 4runner (from factory) around my year? Most important question, how do I clear the alarms memory completely of all settings and remembered remotes? How do I reprogram the two remotes that I have? I found some websites that had directions, but none of them worked, and yes I did them step by step, all night, lol. Also, a less important question, lol, any other settings that I can change on my 4runner using key combinations, or other combinations of opening doors and such. Id just like to know what other stuff is customizable on my 4runner. Sorry for the long post. Thanks!

Do you have the engine immobilizer? I'm thinking you don't cause you have the master without grip. No valet key? To check if a keys valet, see if it locks/unlocks the glove compartment, the master key is the only one that should operate the glove box. Anyone on the clearing of remotes/settings, and reprogramming them?

Hey this should help you... I have a 2000 4Runner SR5 with the same RS3200 alarm & engine immoblizer-- Mine came with 2 Master keys like Gangus2006 one with plastic grip the other just plain metal and one valet key--- Here are the reprogramming instructions for your remotes-- I'd had to reprogram my remotes a few times myself...

1. Start with the following conditions: you are in the vehicle

a. Key is out of the ignition
b. Drive door is open ( all other doors are closed)
c. Driver door is unlocked (other door locks don't matter)

2. Insert the key into the ignition (don't turn it) and pull it out.

3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds:

a. Cycle the power locks 5 times. Use an even pace and try
to go relatively fast.

b. Close, then open the drivers door.

4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds:

a. Cycle the power locks 5 times (same as before).
b. Turn the ignition to ON then back to OFF.
c. Turn the ignition to ON then back to OFF.
d. Remove the key from the ignition.

5. Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should cycle (automatically)
indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1
if the locks do not cycle at this point.

6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds:

a. Press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter
simultaneously for 1 second.

b. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons,
press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds.
Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle ( LOCK then
UNLOCK) once-- indicating successful programming. If
the door locks don't cycle, or cycle twice. Repeat steps
6a and 6b--this remote has not been accepted.

c. Repeat steps 6a and 6b for EACH transmitter that will
operate the vehicle. Including any old transmitters.

7. Close the driver door.

Hope this helps you, it did me greatly-- Good luck,

Noli--

On my 4runner, I do not have the engine immobilizer, not sure if there is any difference in the programming. Also, does this process completely erase the remotes stored, then add new ones? I just want to clear the memory if there were any previous remotes programmed, then program the two remotes that I have.

Yes when you reprogram -- all remotes originally stored in memory are erased... that's why when you follow the instructions you need to reprogram each & every new or old remotes that you have...

My engine immoblizer is an aftermarket model by KARR installed by the dealership when I purchased my Runner...Does not effect the reprogramming of the keyless remotes that came with the vehicle...

I have the EI but not the one that's embedded into the key. The "Valet

we should make a section for programming remotes/alarms in the tech section, sure would be great to have that to look back on

i think its on 4runners around the 2000 year. If you have a security light on the center console next to the passenger seatbelt light. I think the "aftermarket" factory rs3200 plus has the glass breakage sensor and led to the left of the steering wheel. To see if you have an alarm, roll down the window, lock the doors, then wait about 45 seconds, and try to open the door by pulling up on the inside lock, if you have an alarm, it will go off. Anyone know about the drivers priority unlock? How to disable it?

Cool, mine alarm goes off. I've tried to change it so my 4Runner would UNLOCK all 5 doors with one button press.. haven't figured it out yet. Does anyone have the link to those instructions? Hmmmm.. I didn't know I had the RS3200, but my alarm does go off if the door is unlocked from the outside w/ the winder down.

so if the remote you are trying to program does not respond at all to the programming it is prob dead??

teh fcc id is the same on the remote that is not programmed as the one we use normally.
our reg remote works fine but the 2nd one does not respond.

it is one that the dealer found in a box of remotes, so it is proba bad one
