2.7l muffler replacement
Need some Specs real quick so i can buy a muffler tomorrow for a quick replacement. What size tubing is on a stock 2000 toyota tacoma regular cab 2.7l? i want to get a magnaflow for the straight through design, anybody have any opinions? want it to have a nice little rumble at idle and a nice non-ricer acceleration tone. i run around 2900 rpm at highway speeds so don't want any obnoxious drone sounds at that range. Need any and all opinions quick because this replacement is happening tomorrow while i have a welder on hand. thanks

How did it go? I have an 18" Magnaflow, but increased exhaust diameter to 2.5 in., exiting before the rear wheel with a resonator tip. Slightly louder, nice low rpm rumble with nice kackle when decelerating, but approaches droning at 3K rpm, however, not ricey.

If there was a mean sounding muffler for a small engine, everyone would be using it already. But you just can't make 2.7 liters of 4 cylinder fury sound non-ricey. As far as mufflers, you pick either quiet, or ricey.

I have a magnaflow 24" with 2.5" pipe. I love the way it sounds at idle, sounds like a V8.

So i was pressed for time and my welder friend took off to canada for a vacation before i had enough time to order one in. Decided not to mess with my exhaust until something goes wrong like the header cracks, then i'm going to overhaul the whole system. but until then i have my nice little quiet muffler still in place. have to work on my OME and Deaver suspension lift this weekend...
