so i've had my 2000 2.7l tacoma since the summer. Its always been pretty slower unless i really rev the engine high to get it goin. Its a 5 speed. My dads V6 taco crew cab cruises around town fast as can be and its RPMS have plenty of power through the whole range, even low. I feel like my truck has little to no power untill i get up to about 2500 rpms. The clutch is good. my brakes aren't sticking. i just feel like i have to rev this thing real high to get any kind of power out of it. what are some things i should look at? pcv valve? its got 5 month old bosch platinum plus plugs in it. i';ve run techron injector and fuel system cleaner. Just don't know what else to look at.

Anyone else with 2.7 feel like this?

i'm with you there. mine has some definite issues though. i'm going to check my egr valve and clean/replace it if need be tomorrow.

 

ya man i know. Its just this truck is on recall and i don't know whats gonna happen with it. i don't want to invest much, plus i don't have much money for a gear change. I just want to have it runnin right. It has a rumbly idle kinda like you think its gonna run out of gas, but very slightly

 

Mine has a pretty rough idle at times and the rpms will jump around a bit close to 0 then back up to over 1000. it doesn't do it all the time but its happening more now than in the past.

 

hahhaa he would go 0-60 really fast with those 31's. but thats about it...
