1st gen woes

anyone else have a 1st gen 22re w/auto? is it just me, or slow as molasses? what about gas milage? Mines horrible. On initial acceleration, it revs up but i dont feel it like I should. New injectors, new filter. Can anyone gie me a direction to go to?

Yeah the auto 22re's suck. I test drove one looking for my 2nd 1st gen and even though it was in awesome good shape it was way wimpier than my first standard shift.

There are stick conversions that can be done but it's pretty involved, and I don't believe the standard 22re engine swaps will last with the weaker auto tranny still in place. What kindof budget are you talking about?

hey, nice to see another oly guy here you've probably seen me driving around town

those autos aren't much fun to play with. you could convert it to stick, but you'd need the clutch assembly, flywheel, and tranny. might even need a transfer case too if yours has it built in to the tranny. at least the stuff will mostly bolt up if you ever go that direction
