Hey guys,
well I need some interior help.. the stock interior is blue. And if you didn't kno I ripped out the carpet that came with the truck when i bought it. (Household carpet, YUCK) so I want to kno whats the best way to go around redoing the interior, not carpet wise first but the trip and door pieces...thanks guys

 

Had the same exact scenario with my 86 4r.
If your's is like mine, the plastic handles were crumbly and the whole thing was pretty dirty.
I took out the disintegrating blue handles, window crank and door locks, and put in all black ones from an 87 Tercel. Except that the handle backing didn't fit flush against the door panel, this was a great improvement. The important thing is that there are no such parts available in black, according to toyota, though they once sent me a black dome light assembly claiming it was grey.

You may also have the wide stripe of light blue across the front door panels. While you've got the panels off, scrub the heck out of them with windex or whatever, mask off the dark blue with tape and paper, then you can paint over the dirty light blue with whatever color you want. Again, I did black and other than it getting a little scuffed after 3 years, was very happy I did. $6 spray can of Vinyl paint at Home depot does 2+ coats for both doors. Take pics and post if you do this! Good luck!

PS, I also made a replacement fake leather shifter boot using Vinyl, way cheaper than stealership if you know someone with some sewing experience...

No pics... did this in 98 when I bought my first 4R and sold it last year. I wasn't yet pathetically addicted to Toyota Bulletin boards then...

It's pretty straight forward though, what do you need to know?
