1997 Tacoma Stereo Question

Hey guys, i was looking on ebay and saw this auction.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1871972900

What i was wondering, is whether or not this could be put into a 1997 Tacoma that came with AM/FM only. Thanks for any info!

Jesse

Ill do my best to answer this for you when I go to work tomorrow.

Ill check the wiring diagram for the model this radio is suppose to be in. Ill compare it to the 97 taco and see its a plug and play situation.

Trick now is remembering to check tomorrow. *Ties string on finger*

lol - thanks Jay I appreciate it. It's my dad's taco, and he has a birthday coming up, and i know he wants a factory deck with cd player (huge sound is not his deal, so this will work for him)
Anyways, thank you for your help

I have the factory radio/cassette player and cd player that came on my 99 tacoma. It was only on for about 3 months before i replaced it with a pioneer premier headunit. If youre interested, let me know. Im not sure how much different the 99's were from the 97's as far as the radio setup goes. The one on the auction looks just like the one that came with my 4runner; which i also just have laying around. The one off of the 99 taco consists of 2 separate pieces, the radio and the cd player. If youre interested in either one, i can save you some $$.

that one on ebay doesn't look like it will fit. unless it slides into both compartments...

the 99 should fit in the 97. buy it from sportedition, i bet it will be a better price than ebay.

Consulting the Electrical wiring diagrams for both vehicles, it appears that both connectors are the same. The parts dept. told me otherwise. But they never know to much. =)

I say it will plug right in and work without a hitch.

The 3-1 toyota stereo's use an external amp. Some 4Runners and Tacoma's have them if they origionally came with a upgraded stereo. I am not sure if just an am/fm stereo has the external amp..

The Ebay link info says it DOES NOT require external amp. Those connectors are usually different anyhow. I dont see any problems with this.
