I have a problem, I have a ticking noise coming from my car, after about 40 minutes of driving it gets as loud as a ford diesel, it is a clicking noise. I had a mechanic look at it and he said its not coming from inside the engine block and not the transmission. it is coming from right in between (they said), it is only heard at stops and progressively gets louder as you drive longer. it still drives fine and shifts perfect. it is an automatic with 132,000 miles on a 3.4 v6.

it also changes tones as it is put into gear.

if there is a local mechanic (Rocklin, CA, 30 minutes north of sacramento) willing to do work for cheaper that can proove that they are trust-worthy and dependable, I would prefer that route instead considering I am a college student on a low budget.
