I just bought a 1999 4 runner wit a bad trans was planning on doing the 3.4 swap on my 93 4 runner but its a pretty nice 4 runner and i may fix it i dont mind replacing or rebuilding the trans thats in it but bere is the strange part you start it it wont pull so we were pulling it home had it in neutral and it starts pulling in neutral but its like its in first gear and no matter which position its in its the same except park but it kinda wants to pull in park after it cooled off it wont pull at all again it is a little over full on fluid smells a little burnt but still red.sorry for the long post but hust wondering if anyone has any ideas.

Hey, you're posting in the wrong forum. Try the 86-95 forum.

Also it could either be solenoids or reverse band broken. I'd recommend draining the fluid and checking for metal bits. That will give you a good idea as to whether it's an easier fix.
