You may need to give it a little gas while starting in gear, but not much. The key is low range, 1st gear. You should be able to idle along in gear, if so, you can start in gear as well.

I dont understand how the "starter" can move the truck forward though without giving it gas while in gear
Because the starter has a little gear that meshes with the flywheel. If the clutch is engaged (i.e. clutch pedal not depressed) this will thus move the drivetrain.

ahhhh - making much more sense now thanks for those replies roger - and ummmm roger...

4low - 1st makes sense -

ok - so you stall on a very steep hill in second/4high you should apply the ebrake - clutch in > shift into 4low and 1st gear...then press the CST button and turn the key? and you are (hopefully) off to the races?

CST should only be used when in 1st/2nd 4low?

man - this is confusing....it looks like I picked the wrong week to stop snorting amphetamines.

No reason it could not be. Not needed though unless you plan to start w/o pressing the clutch in or if the interlock switch goes bad so that you need to bypass it w/ the Clutch Cancel Switch.

I use mine everytime I start the truck after it's been sitting for more then a few hours. The initial idle at start up is a few hundred RPM's higher if you have the clutch pushed in. Just a pet peeve of mine so I pop it in neutral and start it with the cst button.

Whatta Great Idea! I'm gonna try that on my GF's 95 runner.(he-he...with her permission...of course.. he-he)
She uses it to warm up the heater while standing out side the cab on cold mornings. She just reaches in, puts the tranny in neutrel, hits the CSC butten, and starts the engine. All without haveing to climb in, depress the clutch pedal, start it up, and climb back out.
