1981 Diesel won't start.And 1998

My 22r diesel has 280k. I can't get it to start anymore. The motor turns over and over and over and over... no problem. It acts as if it were not gettin fuel. I don't see a fuel pump as a replaceable item. Any ideas on what it could be.

I also have my 1998 4runner, that needs to have the starter replaced/rebuilt.
Any ideas on where I can get a rebuilf kit for the starter. I'm assuming the starter is the factory one. ?Nippondinso? I will be removing it this weekend.

I own two of the most reliable trucks on earth and niether will start....
Weird.

This guy may have the starter contacts that you need:

As for the diesel I don't think it's called a fuel pump likely a called a injector pump.

No clue where to start.

I would get a chiltons on diesel toyota's.

Also adding things like kerosene to diesel will cause it not to run as well.
With a situation like that the fuel tank would have to be purged of the bad fuel.

Your diesel might have air in the fuel lines. I have heard of that happening.

22r diesel if its not firing i would point to the injector pump or the glow plugs or air in the lines might have to blead the lines

I've had some diesels (daihatsu rocky 2.8td,BMW325TD) and had similar problem-look at the fuel lines-they coud be rotten and have some cracks.
Look for the fuel filter it should have a pump on top of it-pump it up,and then try to start it with few heatings of glow plugs-that should do the trick.
And yes- if you have manual idle control -crank it up.
Let us know if that helped.

that's a 1L engine, not a 22R

i'd say bleed the fuel lines out, check all filters, etc. no white smoke coming out of the exhaust like it's trying to start?
