1" RB install question

Got my lift yesterday and i have some questions regarding the install and required equipment. First, why loosen the steering shaft and shift linkage? I have an 95 AT and i thought that a 1" lift didn't need a steering extension? Second is can i just drill new holes in my bumper instead of getting the bracket?. Any info helps, Thanks!

I didn't loosen my steering at first. Then it got tight, so I loosened it and things were fine.

You don't need a steering extension.

Yes you can just drill new holes, but be careful taking the brackets off. I broke mine and took it to be time for an ARB.

Ditto

Steering extension not needed but loosening it helps while putting in the lift.

You can redrill the bumper but the brackets I got weren't expensive and it saved me the trouble.

I didn't loosen my steering shaft and it was no prob. My rig is 10 years old, so maybe it was a little loose already. (Wait, that's just the nut behind the wheel)
