1.4 Kw or 1.8 Kw Starter?

Toyota of Dallas lists a 1.4 and a 1.8 Kw starter for the 96-02 4Runner V6. Does it matter which one I get? Is one a "heavy duty"?

Would you recomend getting the starter from somebody other than Toyota?

I think I remember seeing that Toyota used different starters on the vehicles with a cold weather package. I'm pretty sure my truck came with some special cold weather package because it had it listed on the original window sticker, plus when new the truck came from a dealer in Boulder Colorado.

You might just try replacing your starter contacts (about $10) first before buying a new starter.

3.4 liter uses the bigger one

yes it matters, or you can burn them out

no I wouldn't get a starter from anyone else, unless it was a
reman Toyota Denso and say Toyota and Denso on the sticker.
