Tint the windows and that thing might look good. By the way did anybody else notice that it looks like that Nissan has a full undercarage skid plate? I can't tell i'm probably wrong.

i doubt the midsize pathfinder will get the new 5.6 300hp v8, thats because the fullsize armada has it. it is possible it might have a smaller v8, but i highly doubt theyd put it in the next generation pathfinders, because of marketing reasons. you pay more you get more. the fullsize is pricier, so it needs to have a better engine.

p.s. what the heck kinda tires are those? theyre funky lookin

That is a concept truck so it is not an engineered, fully working truck. The undercarraige is all covered but the production version will look "normal". Also, the wheels will obviously be smaller-- those are about a 22 or 24" wheel. The tires are custom cut-- the treads are cut just for the one truck.

Besides the silver headlights/taillights, rear mirror cameras, dual tailpipe location, it looks fairly close to what the production version would look like (tamed down, of course). The interior is the most unrealistic part---but I'm sure some of the key elements are similar.

I think Nissan will get alot of attention (they deserve big kudos for the 05's) with the all new Pathy and Xterra to come out soon, but I know the 4Runner is the better truck. When all the hoopla dies down, it will be the 4Runner at the top of the resale value chart-as always

I can't wait to see what the new Taco looks like (based on the 4R platform)

You have to remember that the automakers design a truck for the masses not for a few individuals who like to off-road. Because of this there will have to be compromises. Toyota wanted to have a good off-road machine that the masses of "soccer moms" would also enjoy riding in. Thus the new 4Runner. The biggest complaints about the 3rd Gen from all of the "experts" were its high step in, it rides like a truck and lack of power. Toyota fixed all three with the 4th Gen. From what I have read, the 4th gen has been more successful than any gen. in its first year. Just something to think about.

PS I like the design of the Dunehawk with the exception of the rear hatch. And the skyview windows are nice as long as a shade cover is also offerd as well. Sun gets hot here in NC during the summer.

I don't mean to keep putting Nissan stuff up but they are intro'ing alot of stuff now...thought it would be interesting for comparison.

I think the Sequoia just got it's arse kicked

To be fair, the Seqouia has been out for a while...looks like a redesign is needed asap! Toyota better go true full size this time!

Future taco. Just a engineering prototype since they just slapped a 4R front and Tundra bed on the frame.Taco spy photo

Just my opinion. And I do love my 2003 sport 4 runner
BUT
Over the years I find that Nissan is designed more american friendly. We are taller people. Nissan is more like american designers for tall people. I am 6 ft 1" and have never had any extra room in a toyota. At least the ones I have tried. Toyota seems to design for short to average height people. Nissan more like american cars design short to tall. In 1985 had a supra loved the car but had to drive like P.Diddy.
Anyways not that big a deal but thought I would join in.

Looks like an Isuzu Axiom. Too much 'futuristic' plastic panels and the inside looks like an arcade game. I like the conservative, traditional approach that Toyota takes with its SUV's. 4Runner and Land Cruiser have tradition, Nissan seems to make vehicles that only stay around a few years and then they disappear, flash in the pan, 'Look at me!" mentality.

For some reason I like the new Nissan styling. The new Maxima looks freakin sweet. The only problem is that all their cars and even trucks are looking alike...

But I am a Toyota loyalist and it would take a lot for me to move over to the dark side.

This is one of the things that attracted me to the 4 Runner. When you have tradition, it may not grab all the attention but it keeps it's resale value up and makes them the most wanted on the used car market since they never go out of style.

There are TONS of Nissan cars that, at the time, were "Wow! I gotta have one!" designs. Do you remember any of them? Are they even around anymore? Exactly. Trendy is fun but dressing like Miami Vice was too--wouldn't want to be seen like that now.

Also, I appreciate Toyota's build quality. The truck is so darn well made! My Nissan cannot compare at all!

Toyota simply makes a great suv. That's something I can bank on.

Nissan has great styling but always wack the proportions a bit so you instantly know they will be dated quickly. It's a shame.

Personally I am a Toyota loyalist and will always own a Toyota, but I think Nissan has come a long way the past 6 or 7 years. I think Nissan has done a great job of marketing for their buyers which tend to be younger than Toyota owners. Personally I like the designs of most of the new Nissans and I had a frontier before my Taco and it was very dependable, but I just LOVE Toyota trucks so I would never trade in my Baby for a Nissan, but I think they are nice vehicles.

I loved my 3rd gen...I had what many consider to be the cream...a 99 Sport or "Highlander" as it was called then before corporate stole the name and put it on a station wagon.

However, the day I took delivery, I parked my 99 and 03 side by side and my only thought was 'out with the old, in with the new' in so much as the 99 looked, as it was, like an 8 yr old design vs a 1 year old design.

It takes about 500 miles behind the wheel to realize you can learn to love the looks and learn to ignore those that make fun of the way it looks

Anyway, I really only loved my 99 after 12 months of mods got it EXACTLY how I wanted and I am sure my 03 will go through the same process ...

In short, for 90% of what I do, day in, day out, it is a much more comfortable vehicle and I am inside it for that 90% , looks pretty darn good from behind the wheel !

Same here, I traded my '02 4x4 Sport Edition for a '03. I loved the 2nd & 3rd generation body style and stance. The motor, too weak, and the seats/cabin were too cramped and tiny for my long term liking. My '03 might look different from the '02, but the '03 is superior in all manners of measurement to the old. The ride and comfort of the '03 w/V8, is simply awesome!

Nissan is a reliable company, I would buy a Nissan over a domestic, but compared to Toyota, Nissan is too flashy and futuristic for my liking.

Call up Goodyear. They will be happy to make you a set of tires with any tread pattern you want.

There are also "hot knife guys" that cut tread into slicks too.
