'04 tacoma w/ 51k..repaired title

Hey guys,

I'm not in the market for a truck right now (ha or in the near future) but I came across this on Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6439

I'm just curious what your thoughts are on this vehicle and others that claim a restored title, and if they are worth purchasing or not. I understand that a complete vehicle history of the damage would be necessary to fully understand why the car's title is restored, but on ebay you can get in a lot of trouble for mis-representing an item and they claim it was one door that was replaced and redone.

Any thoughts? Just trying to build up my knowledge base and understanding of situations such as these, because it seems you can find killer deals if you try hard enough...

All buyers are lyers and so are the sellers..
I would be weary, You never REALLLLY know what exactly happened to it..
My thoughts though, why a salvage/rebuilt title if it was just the door..

I doubt it was just one door. No way an insurance company would total a taco over just a door. The damage usually has to exceed over half the vehicles value and even then it's the adjusters call. Something they're neglecting to mention. BUT once a vehicle is bought and repaired to get a rebuilt title it has to be re-inspected and pass. So usually your ok, It would be wise to have someone go over it before purchase though (if purchasing).

Yeah I'm not purchasing a vehicle soon just trying to get info on these type of situations. i take my yota in tomorrow for the frame inspection. It came from Utah so hopefully everything is ok. I actually found the manual online that the dealer goes by to do the hammer test and I tapped my frame where they do and it seems to be fine but we'll see.

NEVER EVER EVER buy a vehicle with a rebuilt title, if you are looking for a reliable trouble free truck.

They do not total a Tacoma out just for a door. The seller is lying about what all was replaced. Working in the wrecking business, we are constantly in bidding wars with people who buy the wrecked vehicles, rebuild them for as cheap as possible, and sell them. Their fixes are attrocious! Bondo everywhere, no seam sealer used, junk welds, rust, aftermarket cheap junk replacement parts, the list goes on and on. I will never in my life purchase a wrecked/rebuilt rig, unless I know that I am buying it for a beater and do not care about condition. Btw, every ad you ever read says "repaired professionally" and its always a lie.

Just looking at the pictures, the right front of the truck has been fixed. Notice the left fender has the VIN tag on the fender, and the right does not? Also, notice how smooth the stamping is along the top edge of the left fender, and the right is rough? It has either been banged out, or replaced with an aftermarket fender. Ask him about that, i bet he says "I dunno, previous damage"

Btw, mis-representing on Ebay doesn't cause you any more trouble than getting your ad pulled. Ebay doesn't care any more than the seller cares about your safety.

Btw, check out all his other ads. Every single vehicle says "Salvage title"

He is a rebuilder.

Thanks for the info. it's nice to get some info from someone who is actually in the business. These are things I wouldn't normally notice. That's why I'm asking the experts! BTW not purchasing or even thinking of it, just building up knowledge base...

Oh and I see what you are talking bout by the two fenders...I was wondering about that but wasn't sure if it was the light! That's good to know!
