04 taco clutch adjustment

o4 taco with very short clutch throw
no problem engaging or disengaging but seems to be getting shorter
is there any adjustment on pedal or is this a sign of clutch on its way out?

u can adjust your pedal if you look under your dash at your clutch pedal you will see a rod at the end of it with a lock nut losen it an turn the rod till you have about a 1/4 in of play in the pedal but it sounds like your clutch is on its way out

There's really not too much adjustment in pedal play with our trucks. You can mess with the input shaft rod a bit, but that's about it. Just make sure that your pedal has a proper freeplay so its not dragging if you do mess with it.

Check the fluid level in the MC, just to rule out the hydraulic system as an issue. Other than that, your pressure plate could be wearing out causing it to lose some of its spring

Did you check the FSM for your first question?

Second. I'd say 4-600 plus parts.

The stealer near me says 6.7 hours labor for the clutch job on my '00 Taco (at $100 per hour) plus parts, which are normally around $350. I just spent Friday and Saturday doing mine. It's a huge PITA but worth the $700 saving in labor to me. Unfortunately my tranny is in need of a rebuild or replacement so I get to do it again. YAHOO!!
