03 Rear Cargo Area
I was wondering if anyone knew if that foldable second shelf can be removed? I have a sub box back there so always have it down so it serves no purpose it is just an extra layer of floor, so just wanted to see if anyone maybe had removed it...thanks

I have been thinking the same thing. My dog is usually back there and its down 99% of the time.
I'll check it out, I was planning to remove it this weekend, but I got sidetracked (Jet Ski).
Will keep you tuned in.

Gone in about 60 seconds!
The 2nd shelf cargo system has now been removed from my truck. There are a total of four bolts, the first two for the tie down loops in the forward area. once these are taken out, the front floor piece can be removed. I think theres a plastic clip or two in the center to prevent it from rattling. There are only two more bolts that hold the system in place. They again are in the forward area of the shelf.
I took it out, but.....the carpeting does NOT cover the entire area where the seats meet the floor. Sine I am going to be installing Dynamat and a rubber floor for the cargo area and my dog, it's not a problem for me. you guys who want to do this and keep carpeting may consider a rear cargo area carpet kit for Runners without 2nd shelf storage or replace it with something from Home Depot!
I'll try to post pics as soon as I can.

Do you think it could be installed in a 03 that didn't have it?
If so what color is yours and would you be willing to sell it?
