I haven't seen any either. Bob_98SR5 provided a great article on the processes of doing it yourself. I have been wanting to try this, but just hadn't had the time.

Hope that helps. If you try it, post some pics.

I saw that also, good ingenuity. I will probably wait until Toyota makes them available though. Thanks

Black Pearl Emblems

Ok guys, here is the deal. Due to the emblems being so new and the company we use to get them "blackened" they are a little more than normal. The best I can do right now is $320 shipped to your door. If you are interested it would be about a week for them to get them in and out to ya. Just let me know if you are interested.

Hmmmm, let me think...

$320 for new blackened emblems

vs

$10 to paint the existing ones.

That's a really hard decision...

Todd; what installation time do you guesstimate to install these emblems? I'm thinking about an hour. $320 (product only) is too steep for me, including the added install. Get it around $225 and we might have a deal.

$320 is for the emblems and shipping. That doesn't include installation.

Ok, after an act of congress and getting the right rep at our plating place the price has been worked down to $219.18. Sorry guys I had a new guy at our outside vendor and he wasn't applying my wholesale discount. Price is $219.18 for all 7 pieces shipping included. If anyone is interested please email me.

Ahhhh, tempting, what about an install time? That will probably make my decision. Any guesses?

One more ??. Are these emblems Toyota factory spec, and warrantied, or are these something TOR is doing locally through a private supplier? I had black pearl on my '02, they started to peel/chip and my dealer replaced them free under the warranty. I don't live in Texas, so I am concerned about Toyota backing.

Good question, here is what I found out. The emblems carry a 3 year or 36k mile warranty which ever runs out first. They are elctroplated and shoud they chip, flake, or fade within that time we will replace free of charge upon proof of purchase.

Todd

As for install time, look for about an 2 to 3 hours in the dealership and 4 to 5 at home if you have never done it before.

Guys,

Two cans of paint for less than $10. Mine haven't even begun to flake or chip. And if they did, bust out the can, spray, dry, clear coat, and be done with it.

Check out my page and look at the 2nd page for pics. Is +$300 worth it?
