Did this last year on my '99. Nice to not have shuddery brakes.
I have 16" TRD Taco snowflake wheels, no clearance issues on the larger calipers. Only 'mod' that made this not a 100% bolt on involved taking an angle grinder to the dust shield and lopping off a tiny bit of metal.

Also, It helps to tap the caliper with the plastic handle of a big screwdriver while bleeding new calipers to help get the air bubbles out.

I am Heriberto from Puerto Rico. I want to made this upgrade on my 4runner 98 SR5, my 4runner had 15" rings/wheels from fabric but I changed these to 16" rings/wheels. Could you let me know the size of your rings//wheels used on this upgrade?

Here is the URL for the pictures of the 4Runner big brake kit I did after reading your post. Its working perfectly. I ended up adding Tundra Wheels

I ordered the Loaded Caliper (Loaded comes with caliper, pads, and shims already assembled) and Rotors for the 2003 Tundra. The part numbers were RC11549 (Reybestos), RC11550 (Reybestos), and P96931 (Brembo Rotors). I also ordered the Tundra Bolts 90080-10298 from Toyota (four of them) for 1.63 each. I paid 111.95 for each loaded caliper and 38.93 for each Rotor. About 375.00 got me the upgrade, plus the set of wheels from the Tundra.
You will notice there are no balancing weights on the new wheels. Dyna Beads were installed, and they work perfectly. Drove from Michigan to Maryland, and no vibration! www.innovativebalancing.com

My 98 SR5 that I did the swap on came with the 16" wheels, so if you had 15" and moved up to 16" you should be fine. Just remember you will most likely still need to do a bit of trimming to the dust shields. By going to the larger wheels you should clear the calipers without issue. The calipers on there are smaller then the 16" wheels you swapped. Good luck and post of results once you finish. Oh and if you run into any problems let us(me) know and just review the procedure we will get you through it!

1) I purchased two used S13WE (199mm) calipers from a tundra 2000 on a junkyard and then change these by two refurbished S13WE (199mm) calipers at the Advance Auto Parts, paid $76.00 for each caliper and $50 for each core.
2) Also purchased, new pads $20.00, I will change these for new ones OEM next Saturday when arrived.
3) Two new steel tube fittings including the new houses, $40.00 total.
4) Two new rotors, $35.00 each.
5) A bottle of break fluid, Dot 3 & 4 $5.00.
Once I finished, run a test drive and its awesome.

I was looking into doing this mod on my truck, sucks I just did new pads and rotors afew days ago, but I know I can just order new loaded calipers and rotors and it should cost me close to $140ish (there's am $82 core on the calibers)

Nice write-up.
I did this mod a few years ago because I needed some extra stopping power with my camper I rarely even tow. Also, after going to steel wheels with bigger tires, it added so much rolling mass that I noticed a decrease in stopping power.
One word of caution. Please get yourself some better jackstands than the ones in that first post. The tripod ones have been known to crumble. There was a story in the paper about a guy that got killed under his car when one of those tripod stands failed. They even had a picture of the jackstand in the paper all mangled up.

I did our swap last week and went with Wagner ThermoQuiet pads. So far there is no brake dust on the wheels. These have been a great choice not only in stopping power and quiet operation but clean wheels to boot. $26 at rockauto.com

I just finished the upgrade. I had some bad pulsation when I stopped, no matter how hard or soft I had to stop. It had gotten so bad that I couldn't stand it any more. It worked great. Took a little longer than I thought it would or should. I first couldn't find the key for my lugs. I had a flat the other day in my parking lot at my apartment, when I get back there I'll look for it. The only other problem I had was I had to grind some material off the caliper to get clearance for my rim to turn. This took awhile on the first side because I didn't know how much to take off, and I could put it back on. So I ground a little, and test fitted for about an hour before I finally had enough clearance for the rim to turn freely. The other side took about an hour. I am happy with the stopping power so far. Once the grinding was done and the wheels back on it works great. Now that the brake pulsating is over and the front end doesn't shake when braking hard I can get new tires.
