01 Taco stereo install questions

Just had a quickl question about installing a HU. I got my pioneer, harness, and kit in today, was wondering whats involved in gettig the taco radio out. Is there alot of dash that has to come off? Just curious because I actually have saturday off and was thinking about doing it, but if its a pain in the arse like some cars I'll just pay the $40 to have it installed. I've done plenty of car stereo and should have every tool needed, just wondering if its a pain.

I did mine and it isn't that bad. There is some screws under the heat controls cover then one under the ash tray. After that that whole piece (trim) pops off. There are two screws that hold the radio in, bam you're done. Reverse order, bam you're done. Oh, I think you will need to loosen the piece of plastic under the steering wheel to get the others to pop off, they over lap each other.

Do you have to pull the ac knobs and stuff to remove that piece like in the older models?

Thanks, it went in easy. Dropped the 12volt outlet piece, pulled the knobs and ac faceplate, then pulled the trim, very simple.

Out of all the Toyotas I have had this one was the easiest for the stereo install.
