Exclamation 01 4runner limited auto climate blower fan issue

Hey folks! I just purchased a 2001 4runner limited with the auto climate control feature. The previous owner said the blower motor used to make noise and eventually stopped working and they never repaired it. I purchased a new blower fan and installed it and nothing when I turn the fan dial. All the controls/switches on the auto climate appear to be working as I have read this can be an issue. Now when I turn the fan speed dial from low to high or back to low, I am hearing an audible click somewhere in the dash area. I did apply power to the blower fan just to make certain it works and it does. Is there a resistor in between on the limited that could be suspect or do i have a faulty control panel? Help
Thanks so much in advance!

BTW - I am a Rookie here and did try to search the forum before posting, but I may have the terminology wrong to get the answers I need.

##UPDATE## Fairly certain it's the front blower motor resistor for an auto temp control. Does anyone have the part number or know the best place to order from. I called the local auto parts place and they wanted $180 which I thought was kinda steep. Please advise! Thanks!

UPDATE 2 Blower motor resistors cost $170 and do not solve my problem.......... The click I am hearing and now feeling is somewhere to the upper right to where the motor and fan are installed. It's probably a solenoid judging from the sound? So it's safe to assume I'm getting power to that point? Any ideas what else I should be checking?

Willing to wager what you are hearing is a door actuator that is stalled/stripped. Get your head and hand up in there and find the grinding/clicking part. Unbolt it make sure the door isn't stuck and see if the actuator moves when not loaded, then clean the trash out of the box or replace the actuator which ever is the problem.

FINAL UPDATE! Note to self and anyone else out there. When trying to take on a project and you don't know 100% how things work, ALWAYS start with the easiest and least expensive part and move your way up. After replacing the blower fan $80 shipped (previous owners said they thought the bearings were going) The expensive $170 resistor(of which I have a used one for sale;-) )Cleaning out a gallon of mouse or chipmunk nest(need a shower badly) it turned out the heater relay was bad($20) I had that stupid fuse box open at least six times!! NOW...Does anyone know anyone here from MN who is competent that would replace my AC compressor? Thanks in advance and it's ok to PM.

Glad you found the problem. Cleaning the A/C system is surely a good thing, though.

Absolutely.

"Test voltage at both sides of the fuses both with IGN off and on.
Measure voltages from ground on pins 1, 2 and 4 of the heater relay before it clicks and after it clicks.
Take out the blower resistor and measure resistanceS between each pin."
